Abstract: The present investigation was undertaken to estimate the correlation and path analysis for fruit yield and yield contributing characters in okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]. Forty genotypes were sown in a randomized block design with three replications during late kharif 2023. The characters studied were plant height (cm), number of branches per plant, number of nodes on main stem, internodal length (cm), days to first flowering, days to first picking, days to last picking, number of picking, number of fruits per plant, green fruits weight (g), green fruit yield per plant (g), fruit length (cm) and fruit width (cm). Highly significant and positive correlation of fruit yield per plant was found with number of nodes on main stem, days to last picking, number of picking, number of fruits per plant, green fruits weight and fruit length at both genotypic and phenotypic levels. The path coefficient analysis revealed high and positive direct effects of number of fruits per plant and number of nodes on main stem on fruit yield per plant. Plant height had low and positive direct effect. Thus, these characters turned-out to be the major components of green fruit yield per plant.
